Soliloquy of the Spanish Artist

I’m locked down in a street of small terraced houses,

I’m waiting to slip in a final question before us.

The danger is out all there, I aren’t hurrying

to run away from pages of a book to the next canvas.

I’ve many a one to paint in front of this woman,

who’s sitting on a high stool in front of a canvas.

As much as I’ve begun a new career this morning

on how to rename very furniture in the corridor,

I borrow tour anger and pains, woman,

I apply the palette knives and hash colours.

Let you look simple, although it’s the emblem

for me to order a place elsewhere beyond this heart

of the Grand Fleece before the afterglow.

However, keep your social distancing, you tell me, and you mean exactly that, and nothing else.
