poem: darcy luetzow staddon

about the light

what she asked did the light smell like

fair question I suppose with so much smell

dropping off into early symptoms or

repetitive

rooms

I’m doing my best here stitching

with dragon wing lacing and free cereal box

tattoos

this light smells of peel releasing

the mikan I bought so many

of them at the first end of

winter I was obscene with my

grocery cart piling them

high

now our home comments scurvy

as we bob same same

water

it’s a little about the water but

it’s mostly about the light

about the write: darcy luetzow staddon

Darcy Luetzow Staddon lives on a farm in Japan with her husband, two daughters, chickens, and dog.  She and her family run a small recovery farm for Japanese hikikomori (those who have suffered from extreme
social withdrawal) and others who need a healing place.

Darcy has loved writing poetry since age 8; she has also loved music and singing for just as long.  Guitar and songwriting came along a bit later.
