poem: louise zimmerman

glimmering

there is a glimmering

sense of ecstatic pleasure

brought on by the unknown

after time

love creeps in

a stealth and subtle friend

the gentle reminders of

what this one might enjoy

warms the heart

love is the whisper of wind

through aspen leaves

tingling rustle

in the crisp mountain air

a sage colored leaf shimmers and reveals

a different shade underneath

walking hand in hand

laughing

over an old joke or distant memory

and clasping each other

so close

that no emptiness

can come between
