To the Redemption Cowboys
to the redemption cowboys
their Kerouacian dreams
passing from whiskey lips
to amaranthine.
a ternary toast
to friends of old,
to lovers of words,
to stories untold.
soaked in memory-
the sun on your lids
soaked in laughter-
a moment, a bridge.
perfect on paper but of
paper the heart’s not made
…another round,
we’ll have the same.
to gilded memories
distilled with tears,
to feeling deeply
for embracing fears.
to uncharted courses,
three sheets in the wind.
to where this path
ends and another begins
as last call falls on
this convivial scene
of whiskey lips and
amaranthine.
