Stolen Moments

There I see you all beguiling

You notice me in nought but smiling

Teasing whispers call our names

Just another silly game

Soft skin meets

Bristles beneath the sheets

Curled toes

Crinkled nose

Giggles while we play

Basking in each other all day

Alas we can't

It will not be

There goes a knock

One- two - three-

Hello mother

Hello father

Are you in there?

I've looked for you everywhere

We moan a little less happily

And throw the blankets over me

Just in case the lock breaks free

Today it isn't meant to be

We roll our eyes

Quick kisses

One- two- three

Find our clothes

While shouting

Just a minute, we'll be out

One last quick squeeze

Standing on shaky knees

Tonight then?

We'll try again

And count the days until

We can netflix and chill

Without our interrupting children

about the writer: becca bilbo-doris

Becca Bilbo-Dorris fell in love with crafting stories, telling yarns, and creating beauty before she could even write. She lives in middle Tennessee with her husband and their three boys. They recently left suburbia and bought the family farm complete with ducks, chickens, and enough room for her plant babies. She is surrounded by a beautiful, natural and inspiring landscape which only fuels Becca’s desires to write, paint, and eventually acquire alpacas.
