hunger

an itch below my skin

thoughts jump, scatter, reform

somehow my fingers find their way back to caress the glass

tap and swipe, a familiar pattern

and when the stretch of silence comes

when weariness presses down

and I yield and turn to my bed

a story glows to life in my palm

what do I hunger for

did you know that carrots are sweet

I want a better hunger
