Just One Toe

Just one toe
That's all I need to feel you
Wrap me up in blankets
Swaddle me in unconscious clouds
Leave me to sweat out the nights
On my own
Except for that toe

And that foot
Or your ankle
That I can fold my foot around
Surrounding you in your sheets
Isolating your body
Leaving you to slyly steal my warmth
On your own
Except for that ankle

And that leg

Or that tail
With its wild fancies
Tickling my arm
Snuggling into my pillow
Leaving you to roam the moonlit room
On your own
Except for that tail

Heavy in the same mattress
Weightless in our separate existences
Dreaming
Resting
Being
On our own
Except for us
