Yellow Summer

Dreaming of a sweet tea sky
Watching dreams fly so high
Playtime wounds licked by humid air
Slide smoothly into a helper’s care
Thoughts of succulent peach pie
Dripping sweet chunks of fruity meat
Skin stuck between your teeth
Washed away by lemonade
Longing to spot the fireflies
Golden glowing against a bluing sky
Grass is greener on the other side
But bees buzz bolder
Where the sweet clover grows high
And though I’m so much older
I still desire
All the youthful fun
Of a yellow summer

about the writer: becca bilbo-dorris

Becca Bilbo-Dorris fell in love with crafting stories, telling yarns, and creating beauty before she could even write. She lives in middle Tennessee with her husband and their three boys. They recently left suburbia and bought the family farm complete with ducks, chickens, and enough room for her plant babies. She is surrounded by a beautiful, natural and inspiring landscape which only fuels Becca’s desires to write, paint, and eventually acquire alpacas.
